John-Ed L. Bishop

Professional Talents
Principal areas of practice are employment, discrimination, construction, adversarial bankruptcy, construction an appellate court review.  He joined Jack Whitehead in 2009.

Mr. Bishop entered the legal arena after 7 years of management, training and auditing in banking and gaming institutions.  He applies his wealth of financial and business acumen in developing real world solutions to employees’ and business clients’ difficulties.

As a proven leader Mr. Bishop served 13 years with the Louisiana National Guard as a decorated Sergeant.  His decorations include the Louisiana War Cross, Humanitarian Service Medal, 4 instances of the Army Achievement Medal, and this Spring he and his mother received the Louisiana Veterans’ Honor Medal from Governor Bobby Jindal.  Sgt. Bishop was deployed to Honduras for hurricane relief and in 2003 served in the Iraqi theater with the 1086th Transportation Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Activities
John-Ed worked with the Boy Scouts of America and served as a Cub Scout Den Leader for many years.  Currently he serves as a coach/advisor for the Louisiana State University Trial Advocacy Competition Teams.

In 2007 John-Ed was chosen for the Louisiana Attorney General’s Summer Fellowship Program where he worked with in the Public Bidding/Contract Section. 

He was awarded the Top Novice Advocate Award in 2006 and represented Louisiana State University at several national trial advocacy competitions. From 2007 through 2008 he was selected as a member and served as the Treasurer of the LSU Trial Advocacy Board.

Family
John-Ed’s passion for the law is second only to his passion for his son, daughter and accomplished wife.  When he isn’t strategizing a mediation or drafting appeals, he is helping coach his son’s after school soccer team.
